2014 Success and Stuff that Didn’t Go According to Plan

0 0

Well 2014 was a mixed bag of successful missions and ones that had a few spanners chucked into the inner workings.

It started off fine with two tabs on my shiny white belt , which gave me no end of joy and pride . Gym membership was there and I was working religiously on my pull-ups. The goal at the end of the year was to do one unassisted everything was going swimmingly till my first butterfly kick that pulled both hamstrings… Darn it … and there the spanner started to undo the nuts on the primary cogs.

Just as I was recovering I got side-swiped in the car and re-hurt the hams and injured the shoulder, so even less training. No archery. No weights. No Kung Fu… Walking and more walking but I was not going to give up.

And the spanner again… oh look there goes another nut and bolt… My Sifu decides to stop teaching…

I could have folded there but that is not me .I had discovered Kung Fu more than anything. is what I want to learn. So, although injured, I hit the proverbial road. I looked and I searched, and the more I looked and searched the more diverse the types of MA I learnt existed – Yin styles, Yang styles, Chinese Japanese mixtures, Hard, Soft… WOW! my eyes got opened now. I’ve never been the type of person to POOO POOO anything till I’ve given it a go.

I found a Good Sifu in the States that has been teaching me Bagua via video, new world and the old meet. It’s kind of cool.

Everything out there is degrees of wonderful but I need more something else.

The place I came to rest was Origin in Altrincham Manchester. I found the style that I think suits me and I kind of fell in love with Kung Fu Based to a certain extent on Tai Chi ,

Thanks To My Friends: Karma, Ando, Andrea, Bean-curd Boxer and you, Logen, for their encouragement and the advise not to lose heart that I would eventually find what I was looking for.
